Airman Leadership School Emblems

Feb 12th

Hello everyone! It’s been three long weeks working on this project. But before getting into it, I want to thank Master Sergeant Jose Negron, The Commandant of Airmen Leadership School at Aviano Air Base, for giving me the opportunity to showcase two wall paintings that will be seen by over 1,000 students, distinguished visitors, and civilian employees annually. The project involved two military emblems that are part of the history and culture of the 31st Force Support Squadron’s Airman Leadership School which promotes Professional Military Education (PME) to soon to be Non-commissioned Officers (NCO).

The first painting represents the Air University’s PME emblem. The patch is worn by Air Force instructors who provide continuing professional military education, focusing on basic, primary, intermediate, and senior levels of all Airmen. The services name is depicted on the top, while on the bottom there is what stands for PME. The inner area is a circle diagonally divided by a sword which splits it into blue and red halves. The blue one contains the world latitude and longitude lines and two aircraft flying towards a star, the red one contains a lamp with a flame.

The second painting is the school house’s logo with its name depicted on the upper part while the location is written at the bottom. The circle encloses a dark blue background with snow-clad mountains resembling the view of the alps, which can be seen from the school. An American eagle is superimposed at the center, swooping in over two crossed swords half hidden between bright yellow and red fire flames.

Both paintings have been accomplished with acrylic colors. Each emblem measures about a meter in diameter.

I feel very content about this project cause it’s been an interesting and pleasant challenge, especially for the many details encountered in the second emblem. Can’t wait to start a new project!
